April 13 - Market Day

The town of Sineu is known for its weekly market, which happens to be on Wednesdays.  So - we dragged ourselves out of bed at a reasonable hour, made our way to the train station, and made the 45-ish minute ride halfway across the island to catch the last couple of hours of the market.  The market stalls were set up up and down every street and set back in every nook and cranny of the old part of town.  Clothing, food, jewelry, and everything in between.  We did lots of looking but ended up buying pretty much just lunch supplies - meat, cheese, olives, dates, nuts, cookies, strawberries, etc. - so that we could sit by the city fountain after the market and have ourselves a nice picnic lunch.  Admittedly, it would have been even nicer without the rain, but we found a sheltered location.  The rain was light, and came and went, so was really not much of a bother.  Temps were a bit on the cool side, but hopefully things will improve as the days go by.

Once back in Palma we strolled through some of the shopping districts.  Lots of looking going on, but not a lot of buying.  Stopped for a coffee break during a spell of harder rain and had great fun critiquing everyone's fashion choices.  I hadn't realized that I was travelling with such a cultured crowd.  I think there was some mention of finding some better fashion choices for me.  Yikes - don't think I have room in the suitcase for any drastic make-overs.

We had a pretty good dinner at El Tunel restaurant, close to our hotel.  I had paella, and have plenty for a leftover meal tomorrow.  We didn't finish there until after 10, so a little later to bed tonight.  Still haven't made a plan of attack for tomorrow.........
