April 13 - Market Day
The town of Sineu is known for its weekly market, which happens to be on Wednesdays. So - we dragged ourselves out of bed at a reasonable hour, made our way to the train station, and made the 45-ish minute ride halfway across the island to catch the last couple of hours of the market. The market stalls were set up up and down every street and set back in every nook and cranny of the old part of town. Clothing, food, jewelry, and everything in between. We did lots of looking but ended up buying pretty much just lunch supplies - meat, cheese, olives, dates, nuts, cookies, strawberries, etc. - so that we could sit by the city fountain after the market and have ourselves a nice picnic lunch. Admittedly, it would have been even nicer without the rain, but we found a sheltered location. The rain was light, and came and went, so was really not much of a bother. Temps were a bit on the cool side, but hopefully things will improve as the days go by...
